i stopped watching tv altogether a few months ago. try it dude, you have sooo much more free time!

that said, i might download this new ep. i think the show went down the drain soon after the helicopter accident/explosion crap, but it's really nice to hear it's going back on track!

NO!! No one talk about it yet, let's not forget about the west coast!!! we haven't seen it yet!

Would an old drunk get a rectal exam with a kid two beds away? I think not.

This happened when my family went camping one year.

I guess it depends (I didn't see the show), is the curtain pulled?

The curtain wasn't pulled. They were looking at each other eye to eye.

The drunk was on his side so the kid couldn't exactly see what was going on but he could see the doctor poking around the drunk's nether regions.

Yea, I would doubt that that would happen. After I volunteered in the ER at my local hospital (the group I volunteer with at the hospital "rotates" us to different floors, so we expierence more of the hospital then just the ER), I couldn't watch it because it was so fake. I didn't even catch the ovious ones (like the abulance entrence running through the lobby, which anyone who has ever seen a real ER (and don't pull out that "its called an ED now adays" because, personally, I like my hospitals name for it, the Emergency Care Unit [ECU]) should know that.

I laugh at that show, but the drama is still good.

I liked the episode the other week where the trauma surgeon performed the organ transplant, all in the context of the emergency department. It was about as medically realistic as the "Operation" boardgame.

You're out of your mind. ER is to real life what Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers is to forest dwelling rodents.

Oh, please dont get me started about how far off the organ donation policy of that hospital is from reality. Having an uniformed intern approach a grieving mother about intent to donate is just not the way it's done. And the week before, with the trauma surgeon performing the transplant? C'mon - A liver can survive outside of the body for nearly 48 hrs. A highly specialized vascular surgeon or transplant specialist would do the job, not some run-of-the-mill general surgeon.
Oh well - it did make for some decent TV. I don't think the general public cares much about the particulars.

Don't tell me anything..i taped it and didn't watch it yet. But glad to see the sdn community approves! 👍

I like the show and have for years. Though it's important to remember that the show is in fact fiction. Now that I work in our ICU I realize that a lot of the medicine is really bogus, but it's still a fun show. Plus, I think John Carter is really cute! 😉

I like the show for episodes like this one that pop up every once in a while. It's like playing the lottery, and sometimes you get lucky 😉.
