After you are accepted, how important are fall and spring semesters' grades if they are NOT pre-reqs? Do they only look at additional science grades or all the grades? Can they take away your acceptance if you get minimum C's?

After acceptance and while in OD school "Letter grade of C = OD" But by performing poorly you're probably cheating your future patients if you're just trying to skim by on every course.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to undergrad after you've been accepted. I'm wondering the same thing. I would like to ask the schools, but don't want to until I'm accepted; don't want them to think I'm a slacker 🙂

I asked the OD I work for this question, he said that at this point they won't revoke your acceptance unless you fail pre-req courses....That being said, they do ask for transcripts to be sent to them every semester after acceptance, and I have heard of medical schools revoking acceptance because grades received after accepting someone.

I've actually been accepted, but on the letter it says "pending my spring semester transcripts". I'm not sure if I'm required to take a class in the spring because I have all of my pre-reqs fulfilled. Would they revoke my acceptence if I don't take classes in the spring?

I think it means that they just want to make sure you graduate. Do they know what your school status is...as in...are you a senior? are you graduating in December? have you been out of school for a while and just been taking classes? etc.. I would just call and make sure what they mean and also tell them what you are doing.

Many schools have disclaimer that acceptance is contingent on maintaining your current academic level.

If you've been accepted and have met grad requirements, I strongly suggest taking the final semester for personal growth.

My last semester I took marketing, personnel management, small business accounting, technical writing, and a study of classic novels/film.
I really think these courses helped me in my private practice, I loved having no labs, and non-science courses are a cake-walk for an easy A!
(I also got a night job and saved up some serious $$'s for opt. school)

Pretty much since I got interview invitations I've been slacking with my classes (hah, I know, not a great idea). So far I have two acceptances and obviously I'm not going to fail anything, or get anything lower than a B-... but the schools have to understand that most people are going to relax at least a LITTLE, right?

I mean, my GPA for the past year was a 3.7, but surely Bs are acceptable at this point?

Yea, B's are definitely okay...even when applying. I was just wondering in terms of C's and if they aren't pre-req courses and if you haven't gotten a C before in any of your classes.

My motivation level has definitely dropped as well after being accepted. I am sure they see that a lot anyways. Would it be okay to call the schools and ask them?

Thanks Optsuker for your advice. I was just thinking of working for the next couple of months now that I know I will start Opt school next fall. I think I will take a writing class since that's an area I need to improve on. Being that I have a business degree, I think I'll pass on business courses, but what do you think about taking a spanish and/or vietnamese course since I plan on serving communities that speak those languages?
