I never really kept in tough with my old professors...maybe only one. I'm finding it really difficult to choose a professor to write my LOR. I have chosen two but they don't know anything about me. How important are LORs? And will this affect my chance of getting in to dental school?

bump...My GPA is about 3.4 for cumulative and science. I am taking the DAT in June 8th

LOR is something for the evaluators to know more about you, what people think about you (your attitude, character, personality...).

So, I would recommend you to look for the professors who know you really really well. Start today, it's still not too late!!😉

The thing is, I don't think it can make or break your entrance. You really want to have decent LORs so that they do not hurt you. I don't think that amazing LORs will necessarily help you that much, it definitely can't get you in.

Out of my LORs, only one professor knows me outside of class. The rest of them are just putting my class standing and stuff like that. I'm not stressing about it though, because there isn't really much that I can do.

Theres another path,

One method is to have a pre-health advisory committee that interviews the candidate for dental school and then writes a letter from the committee. This committee letter often is accompanied by a few other LORS(teachers/dentists) to some schools who requires them. But some schools don't, and the committee letter is everything you need.

I would suggest researching the schools you want to apply to, maybe call them and explain your situation and ask them if this could be a possible alternative.

Hope I helped. Good Luck.

Edit. Before you do all this, make sure that your school has a pre-health advisory committee 🙂
