Hello all, this question is for current USC dental students (particularly ASPID and 3rd and 4th years). How important is it having a laptop? I understand that being in a PBL curriculum, having a laptop might prove beneficial whenever the situation arises. But how often would you normally use your laptop while in campus? Would I get by with just a desktop and bringing a flash drive with me in campus? Thanks for your input

I was also wondering if they ask you to purchase a specific laptop before school starts? Mine is on its way out and I'm thinking of getting a new one but maybe I should hold off until I see what they say...

You definitely need a laptop here. Doesn't matter what kind. Just make sure you can get online and research stuff quickly for PBL and also to watch videos in preclinic. I don't know how you can survive in any college program in the USA without a laptop nowadays.

Netbook, I-pad, Laptop, all will work, you can get by without one, but its a struggle and you don't need extra struggles.

Thanks. Yeah I can't imagine not having one...
