So I feel determined about medicine and really want to major in Neuroscience...

I just found out that they're offering me a hefty amount of money, and I will probably be accepted into their Honors Programs...

But how is the school with regards to academic vigor, curriculum, social life, things to do, all that other stuff which makes a college experience fun??

It's very conservative. I could have gotten a full ride there but chose not to apply. But if that's what you want then go ahead.

It apparently has a very good pre-med program though.

i kinda figured b/c of how the school is baptist...anything else i should consider about the environment...

By the way, Baylor University and Baylor College of Medicine are two different things. Yeah off course they are two different things. What I wanted to say is that they are not affiliated officially like Harvard University and Harvard School of medicine.

Yeah, what Tennis said. I was actually looking at Baylor for med school and realized that they had severed ties with Baylor University, but I haven't really read up on the atmosphere so I can't really comment on that aspect. It is a very good school though. Honestly though, if they are giving you quite a bit of money and a spot in the honors program I would say go for it. I'm sure there have to be a handful of cool people there atleast 😉

I checked it out once three years ago. Beautiful, well-maintained campus. Definitely feels collegiate. I, however, was turned off by the strong Baptist affiliation, as well as two required religious courses for all undergrads: "The Christian Scriptures" and "The Christian Heritage." For some people, it's not a big deal, but for me it was. Something to consider if you're non-Baptist.

I'm a student at Baylor! junior-Anthropology/pre-med.
I absolutely. love. it. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking at colleges. There is so much to do on campus, there is SOMEthing out there for everyone. sometimes you just have to look. Sure, Waco isn't the most awesome city in the world and there isn't a whole lot of extra stuff, but definitely close enough to Dallas or Austin to make it worth your while. If you have any specific questions let me know!

oh baylor....

What can be said about BU.

I am a senior at Baylor currently and will be graduating in may.

Baylor is a good school, the science programs are amazing. After finishing the pre-med requirements and all the other requirements for my forensic science degree I felt absolutely prepared for the MCAT (with a "little" studying of course). And was able to get into my first choice of medical school with no problem at all.

The school and town is really really really conservative but thats ok because school will keep you busy most of the time. That being said there is nothing to do in Waco. (I hate waco...what kind of idiot puts a university in a hell hole like that I don't know)...but anyway its still a good school.

You mentioned honors...DO NOT...DO NOT...AND AGAIN DO NOT BECOME A BIC STUDENT. I AM A BIC STUDENT AND IT SUCKS...YOU DO A LOT OF BULL**** BUSY WORK. if you are going to do honors do honors but stay away from the bic.

also don't come to baylor for the football...they suck balls.

the end
