Sorry for another thread like this.. its just I'm having some difficulty deciding what classes to take. I'm on a quarter system BTW.

---------------------------

Pathology, Immunology, Microbiology (3 units) - Its for my major and emphasis (Medical Microbiology). I hear the class is interesting, but challenging.

Physiology Labratory (3 units) - This class i don't need for my major, I'm taking it because USC requires it. I hear this class at my school is not hard, but a LOT of work.

Microbiology 140 (3 units) - For my major/emphasis. I hear this class is boring and HARD.

Geology 107 (3 units) - For my field req for my major. I hear this class is cake.

Seems like a nice courseload but it only gives me 12 units!!! So I was thinking of taking

Writing in Health (4 units) - seems like a good amount of work.

------------------------------

My friends are telling me I'm crazy if I take 5 classes in one quarter, but I really am scared if I only take 12 units because UOP requires you explain yourself for every quarter you take under 14 units.

BTW.. I also plan on working (10-14 hours) and staying active in my service fraternity.

Any advice would be MUCH appreciated. 🙂

I think that course load is fine. I'm sure Microbiology 140 and Pathology, Immunology, Microbiology will overlap - i took mol. bio & biochem I & II and microbio and a lot of microbio stuff was repeated from biochem.

Also the lab will probably be tedious but not mentally hard - probably similar to orgo lab where you'll be writing lab reports for every lab (6-8pages per lab) quizzes and exams... a pain but can be fun (actual lab that is)

Then theres writing it'll be a nice change and geology should be easy and boring.

Overall that schedule is fine. Tons of fun this semester!

You can do it. It'll be hard, but so is pharmacy school. Here's what's on my plate....

Engineering Physics I (and lab)
Calculus II
Zoology (with lab)
Polymer Chemistry (don's ask me why)
and last but not least......... Intro to Environmental Management
My major is Chemistry with a Biology Minor.

I just look at it as a way to prepare myself for the pharm school courseload. 😛

I would advise against taking writing in health with the physiology lab but that's just my take on it. my roommate took the course last quarter and she said it was really time consuming (researching for the two 15 page lab reports). plus i think that if you're working also, four courses is sufficient. (you could explain that to uop) (i have taken five classes in one quarter and it is doable but difficult like the above posters said)

Good luck!

hope this was helpful.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm leaning towards with Luckycloud. I'm thinking of dropping the writing in health because I just really don't want to overwork myself to the point of mental collapse. I also want to take a load I know I can get straight A's in.. (or close to it 🙄 )

And if UOP still thinks I'm being lazy after taking 16 units of summer school this year and 12 units of summer school last year and virtually having no break since entering sophmore year of college.. then thats their problem 😉 .. well actually also mine if I don't get in.. but you know what I mean 😳

Sorry I'm confused... do you think my schedule is good /w the Writing class (4 science classes and 1 writing class) + work + EC's.. or do you think its better w/o the writing class? If I drop the writing class i will take begginer's tennis instead (0.5 units) for fun.

So its either Option A - Fall Quarter (16 units)

Immunology, Microbiology, Physiology Lab, Geology, Writing in the Health

Or option B - Fall Quarter (12.5 units)

Immunology, Microbiology, Physiology Lab, Geology, PE - Tennis

Thanks for all the responses guys.
