I'm aiming for (at the moment) Brown (possibly PLME), POMONA 😍, Rice, Stanford, Penn, and Yale.

Questions:
  • Will taking only 3 history classes hurt me? My school doesn't offer an official freshman history class, and I'd much rather take an AP science class than an additional AP Euro or something.
  • Any other AP classes I should consider?
  • STUDY TIPS PLZ FRENDZ

My plan is (currently) as follows:
Freshman:
Honors English 1
Honors Algebra 2
Honors Biology
Honors Latin 1
TV Broadcasting 1 (just for communication skills, YouTube, etc.)
String Ensemble (the "Honors Orchestra" class, basically)
Freshman Choir
PE/Health (mandatory for all four years ugh)

Sophomore:
Honors English 2
Honors Pre-Calculus
Honors Chemistry
Honors Latin 2
Honors US History 1
AP Economics
either Choir or String Ensemble
PE/Health

Junior:
AP English Language and Composition
AP Calculus AB
AP Chemistry
Honors Latin 3
AP US History
AP Biology
either Choir or String Ensemble
PE/Health

Senior:
AP English Literature and Composition
AP Calculus BC/2
Genetics (it's like "AP Biology 2")
AP Latin
Honors World Cultures
AP Physics 1
either Choir or String Ensemble
PE/Health

1. I hope you're not joking/trolling and wasting my time, because if you are, I'm going to be upset

2. Take the hardest classes you can do well in, but it looks like you're 14 and barely in high school yet, so stop worrying about this stuff and just worry about getting into college first

3. This is not (primarily) a forum for advice on getting into college. If you really want to get some advice on that and are willing to tolerate vitriol and hyperbole, head on over to collegeconfidential or something similar. Most of us are too far removed from AP classes to really be able to offer an substantiative help.

4. Protip: don't set your sights on a particular college freshman year. You don't know what your SAT/ACT is going to be, you don't know what your grades are going to look like, you don't know where you're going to want to be, you don't know what kind of college culture you're going to want. Just do the best you can, get involved in things that interest you, and around junior year, after you have an SAT/ACT score and some real grades, then start to look at college. This especially applies for competitive schools like, well, all the ones you've listed. This holds true for med school as well.

Wait...you're not even in high school yet? Chill bro, chill....

What you're doing right now is the same as if I started looking at where I'd want to set up my own private practice or which academic medicine departments I might want to be the head of.

Yes, because I have the time of day to be able to troll people in my free time. I don't even have free time anymore. I'm in high school already. I have my heart and mind set on all these things. I know that with my dedication, I'll be able to do this. My choir teacher taught me about self-fulfilling prophecies which are super creepy and real so I use those. But ok, I'll try your suggestions. Thanks for your time ahaha

Take history. You should be getting a broad education not just science in high school. Looks bad for college. 1science 1history 1english 1social studies 1 foreign language.

Take as many AP courses as possible. Those credits are great. If you get AP euro credits you get credit for that in college! Most schools will take a 4.

Study tip: all about time management. Study with friends. Make sure you are having fun in high school.

you have no free time in high school?

I know this sounds counter-intuitive, but I'd research and observe as many careers as possible (I wasted so much time chasing after careers that did not fit me in high school and college).

Getting National Merit did not mean much because I ended up transferring to another university (that had my dream program) anyway.

Other things to focus on is your health and fitness, developing study and organization habits, and doing what you love (creative writing, music, ect).

Yeah man you really should not worry about any of this at this point. It's great that you're looking ahead and everything and aiming for top schools but you aren't sure what you like yet. Enjoy highschool, enjoy your interests and your friends. This is the time to mess up a little and have it not matter, you won't get this time again. Once you're in college and postgrad you can't really mess up anymore or enjoy the small things you get in highschool.
