how is university of new mexico?

I grew up out there and it had a solid reputation for being a good primary care school. I'm not sure how their surgery program rates.

Very solid program. Great atmosphere. They actually started working on changing "surgical culture" there to a more non malignant way sometime in the early seventies - and it shows. It's a very laid back and friendly program. Great case numbers and a good mix between community and academic environments. While technically it's a university it's actually got a sort of hybrid model (I think that's the term they used) semi academic, semi private, semi state body etc. I liked it and would have ranked it highly except for a personal reason for needing to be located in a different city.

BTW, Alburquerque is a great town. I recommend scheduling an extra day to hang out and see the place.
