So I need some advice from the wise people who have already gone through an application cycle before..

For the most part, I am basically done with coursework so I would like to begin requesting transcripts be sent from various universities I've attended to the schools that I am applying to. Just to basically ensure that they get there and that part of applying is out of the way.

Now my question is, obviously I haven't submitted my VMCAs application or anything like that yet,...so the schools that I am applying to really have no idea that I am applying to their school...so do I notify them in advance that my transcripts are coming? or do I just have them sent and assume that they'll make a file for me and put them in there?? or do I have to wait until the end of the summer to have them sent?

I guess I'm just confused about the order of things. 🙄

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the schools might know b/c i got an email from one of the schools that i have selected under the "applying to" section, saying they were notified by vmcas that i am applying. not sure if this is just one school or all. but if they all aren't notified, then i would like to know the answer too b/c my transcripts are ready to be sent as well. 🙂

I sent my transcripts before VMCAS last year without notifying schools. Did not have any problem.

Yep, just go ahead and send them. They will file them until your VMCAS is recieved.

Did anyone send transcripts themselves? I was planning on requesting all of my transcripts and sending them all in one big package after the summer term ends with any supplemental forms/application fees/etc. This is how I did it when applying to undergrad, is it different for vet school?

I know a lot of the schools that I am looking at say on their websites that transcripts MUST be sent directly from the schools themselves. Cornell definitely says that if they receive transcripts from the student, even if unopened, they will not be considered

And KSU specifically asks for your transcript to be sent with your GRE scores and the supplemental stuff BY YOU all in one package, and not from the school. So every school will be different, just to tick us off. 😉

haha seriously!! they couldn't make the application process a LITTLE easier on us?!

cornell is the only one i have seen (out of 10 schools) that specifically states they must be sent directly from the school. the other schools just say "signed and sealed." i'm sending mine myself (especially for KSU - as stated, they require it all be sent together). i already have them, they are individually sealed and signed, just waiting to be sent.

Ahh...good times. Good luck guys! I think applying is the worst part. Yes, vet school is stressful and hard, but at least once you're in you know you're in. Hang in there and in no time you'll be worrying about whether you're smart enough to be in vet school and convinced the admissions committee made a mistake by letting you in. (It's a tried and true ritual around these parts.)

Good luck!!! Give 'em hell!:luck:

Entering the grades isn't fun... finally did that today. I ate a cookie for every bad grade... excuse me while I go throw up...

:barf:

Now I just need a PS to come to me magically 🙄 and I can add the rest of my experience house at the end of the summer (when I have them all done).

ETA: Also, ever try adding all your courses while having your roof redone? It makes it like 110% better. And by better, I mean more excruciating. :meanie:

I know the feeling about entering the coursework....I had no idea I had taken 95 classes from five different schools!!!!! Yes, 95!!! Of course, that involved several changes of major until I decided on zoology!! I think it took me like four hours to complete. Now I need to work on my PS, but that will have to wait until later... think I need a margarita. 😀 Good luck to everyone. Isn't this fun?!!!

I ended up sending them all separately anyhow and my application wasnt thrown into the circular file... well at least not until after my interview
