How late can you return secondary

So there are a couple secondaries i've ended up holding onto for a very long time. (e.g. Georgetown for a month and a half now). Should I go ahead and give up on those or do you think I should still take my time and work on them. I know the simple answer is might as well try but some are so time-consuming that I feel they just arent worth the time and money (along with the fact that I prolly wouldnt have a shot with them anyways)
