My GPA plummeted in 97-98 school year. I'm thinking of applying to Meds next year. It would have been 8 years. I graduated in 2001. Now finished my masters with a 3.8 GPA. Would they still count those long ago in. When I do the calculation, I get an overall GPA of 2.8. Any idea?

Yes, they will count (even if you took the classes 30 years ago they would still count). However, since your recent work has been much better the schools will notice the improvement. AMCAS will still list your lower GPA but schools do notice trends and they realize you are a much better student now and that is what matters.

Also, consider taking more classes now even after you finish your degree (Masters or whatever) . . . in case you don't get in the first year it only helps to demonstrate a continued upward trend.
