Just kinda confused, they give you 1500 characters to work with for experiance, and work experiance, and state that they want a brief description, but 1500 characters is ALOT, and Im wondering if I should right more, my typical response is about 300-400 characters, should they be longer????

such a good question!! I'm facing the same situation!! I think they just want to give you enough room to explain anything you want.. I'm curious about how much is too much even with the 1500 character limit?
hmm. Lets see what everyone else thinks!

What are you talking about: the essay on the OptomCAS.org application? That's the only thing that, to my knowledge, has a 1,500-character limit. If you are, I'm not sure how you could possibly write one comprising 300–400 characters: 1,500 compose about a page and a half (Time New Roman, 12-pt. font with standard [Microsoft Word 2000] margins) — for me, the limit was restrictive, and I found myself scanning my submission to cut out words I could stand to.

My responses were very short as well, I think it's their way of getting your resume. I pretty much copied and pasted my experience from my resume and added a little bit to it. One of my old jobs went out of business so there's no contact information, but it's a big part of my essay, what should I do? OptomCAS won't let me submit without the contact information.

I'm worried about the actual essay, I am a little below the character limit but there's so much information on there, I'm afraid it's a little boring. How long should the essay be?

Again, your "responses" to what? As I recall, the only part of the OptomCAS.org application with a 1,500-character limit, is the personal essay.

The 1,500 character limit is for the work experience, not the essay which is 4,500. What I did for the work experience is not only include what my responsibilities were, but also what I learned the most, and in some cases linked how my responsibilities there would help me in running an optometry practice. Weather is managing people, hiring, or solving conflicts.

foreseen, one of the places I worked for also went out of business so I looked them up online and found the number they used and put that, but made sure to say that they went out of business.

Thanks Neya00, I found it!! I can't believe that was online!!
Commando303, sorry about not answering your question but Neya00 took care of it.

Neya00, thanks; sorry for the confusion. Am I nuts (I may be...), or is this whole section (under "Additional Information") new? I don't recall seeing it before.

Foreseen, no worries.

Well, I hope they wouldnt change stuff on us in the middle of the application process! I think that there are so many ways to navigate around the website and things could be missed easily... even with a "check mark" next to an item, it doesnt mean all fields are completed, so i have to go back and make sure

I could swear that section wasn't previously there, but I could be mistaken.
