how long before schools receive your application?

I ask because I'm waiting on a LOR, but everything else is basically ready to go. Since I guess they have to figure out what your AMCAS GPA is, I imagine it'll take a while. I'm pretty certain this last LOR will be in within a few days, but I figure it's so late at this point that I'm better off sending by like the 15th if I can't get an absolute commitment on the LOR, especially since I already have three in. Is it actually possible to send LORs after you've submitted your primary, or is that a no-no?
