So, I'm not sure if this is written somewhere or what the policies are, but after you have an interview, and say you are offered a spot at a school, how long do you have before you have to either accept or decline?
I'm wondering because I hope to interview at 3 schools, but I'm not sure what the timeline is going to look like and whether I'm going to have my last interview done in time.

Thanks!

It depends on the school. I think Temple is a month. I believe some schools are 2 or 3 weeks. If you ask for an extension of the time, they will probably accommodate you.

Yes, I agree with catchburns. I missed a Western interview because it was 29 days after my first interview and didn't want to rush my decision. Then I found out schools accept people in like May/June of next year. I think you'll be okay to miss the deadline. Of course, you should contact the school and keep them updated on why.

This is something I really don't like. They should give students more time to make their decision about what school they are going to. Most students won't need the extra time, but for students who have applied very early in the cycle, we are at the greatest disadvantage because some schools process apps quicker then others.

Its all about money. Its really not for the interest of the student at all. Lame.

Ya, but it you look at it from their perspective, they can't just sit around waiting for people to decide what they are going to do. They need to fill their seats. If they give you too much time and you decide not to attend there, then they are left to rush and fill a seat. Remember, its not like medical school where there are 20,000 applicants and an unlimited number of students for them to fill their seats with. There is only a small pool of applicants who will likely get accepted to several schools.

I agree that it'd be nice to have more time but I can't hate them for doing it that way. A month seems reasonable to me. Besides, these schools are willing to let you wait until later in the season to interview if you don't want to do it right away so its really our own fault if we don't plan well enough to make time for the decision of which school we want to attend.

Just thought I'd play devil's advocate.... 😎

Had an interview at NYCPM today. I was told that they give the student a month from the date they are accepted to decide. They also grant you an extension if you need it. Just FYI for anyone who is considering NYCPM.
