How long does Interfolio take to send LORs to AMCAS? Is there a 'verification' of LORs matched to letter writer slots you've set up, and how long does that take? Thanks

Interfolio can send stuff day of if it is done early and via email. It is a preety quick process although it could take AMCAS a few days to mark them in the system for your schools.

Why not have the letters uploaded directly to AMCAS? Save yourself the money! AMCAS already charges you for the letter service, so why do you want to pay for a whole different letter service?

Your pre-health office will probably accept the letters too and hold onto them until you are ready to submit to AMCAS.

amcas charges you for letter service? huh? some undergrad institutions don't hold on to letters, including mine. I think interfolio is a good idea, it's not that expensive, and if you end up needing to reapply/etc your letters are there at your disposal

It is part of the fees that are included for the application service. Also included is the verification process and mailing fees to schools. It isn't like AMCAS is a free service to use. They charge for the entire process.

Sucks that your pre-health office doesn't offer those things. That is a huge plus. All my letters are kept in a folder and if I don't get in, I just send an email to the office secretary and ask her to reupload the letters.

He could be applying DO as well. You kind of have to use a letter service and interfolio is a good option.

I know that, but he stated AMCAS. If you have the extra $20, then do it if it makes you happy. Or spend $40 and get the three year deal. I would rather use the money on more important things.

It's only $20/year. That's ~5 cents a day -- pretty sweet deal if you ask me. IMO this is one of those "more important" things that you speak of that deserves a $20 investment. The pros definitely outweigh the cons.
