Greetings:

The MCAT scores are supposed to be released Tues Jun 19... If I hit "Submit" at 12:01 a.m. does AMCAS enter me into a queue so that I will still probably only have a couple of day certification time (all my other materials are in.)

Should I hit submit now-or will this affect the chances of being at the right spot in the queue (i.e. in a different pile since my application wasn't "finished" at time of submission)

Any opinions? Also, is June 19 still early enough in the cycle (have time for secondaries starting July-one of the other reasons I have waited to try to "submit) Will maybe 1000 other people crash the AMCAS on Tuesday?

Thanks in Advance

Whoa, pony! AMCAS does not transmit the first batch of information to schools until sometime around mid-July, no matter when you submitted. And, no, no matter when you submit - I have never heard of a 2-day verification time. My turnaround (in July) was right at two weeks - about the quickest I've ever heard of is 10 days.

Anyway, at this point - no, I don't recommend submitting prior to score release. If your MCAT score is not what you want it to be, it's a real hassle to let all of your schools know that you're going to re-take in August - and there's no way to stop your application once you've hit "submit."

There are a large number of people who are organized enough to submit to AMCAS on the night of the 19th right after scores are released - it didn't crash last year. If you can do that, you'll be in great shape and definitely in the first batch transmitted. Don't be disappointed if secondaries don't even begin to come until August, though. Last year I couldn't imagine what could possibly be more important than my application - but, since I'm matriculating in August, I can't imagine that a school is going to be worried about the Class of 2011 when I haven't even been to school yet! I guess it's all about me at times.

Good luck, and congrats on getting your app in early.

Wait to see what your scores are...why pay $$$ to AMCAS if you don't have any chance (score really low)?

mine was submitted last thursday I believe and was verified today (5 or 6 days). If you get it in before July I would think your turnaround would also be quick and you'd be in the first batch going out early July, along with weirdos like me who don't wait for MCAT scores (thus jinxing ourselves...). I also think the whole "crashing server" thing is a pre-med urban legend. I would send it in when you like (before July)...
