OK, so I sold my motorcycle and now have my extra spending money for a tablet. Despite a few upsides to Android tablets (expandable memory, newer tabs coming along with good specs and more pocket-friendly sizes) there are too many downsides and too many upsides to the iPad. So I think I'm going to get one this weekend. One of my main uses will be to load up a bunch of PDF articles and books and use books I've got on the Nook/Kindle apps. Definitely going to load up a bunch of medical stuff that I've downloaded for my iPod over the years, but there aren't any great big space-hogs for my particular field (there's almost nothing directly related to my field). I'll put some games on it, but I doubt too many. I was initially going to go with a WiFi/4G version but then I found an app allowing for free MiFi on my Android phone, so I think I'll stick with WiFi only and use the phone as the link when in need and out and about.

So, since I'm saving a little money on the 4G thing (upfront and downstream) should I get the 64GB version or is the 32GB good enough for most mere mortals?

Unless you have some odd need to drag around huge portions of your media collection on the go, the 32GB option should be just fine.

If you're one of the Apple users who subscribes to the ownership-style of selling the older model once the new one comes out, the 32GB option should help with that as well. FWIW, I never had issues with either a 8GB iPod Touch or my current 16GB iPhone 4S in terms of running out space. Just no need to have it locally when you have Wi-Fi at home and unlimited 3G on the road.
