Hey guys, so I'm thinking of cutting my interview list from 15 to 14 programs to cut expenses (an extra 700 bucks). Is this still a safe number of interviews? I want to cancel an interview due to high cost/time to travel there but would have otherwised ranked this program 7 or 8 on my list. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

anymore than 10 interviews is overkill unless you have some red flag on your application. the more interviews you go on the more money you waste, and each additional interview increases your chance of matching negligibly. I would cut down significantly. Do not interview anywhere you wouldn't want to match. Most people will get one of their top 3.

As a foreigner I only went on 8 interviews, and ranked 6. I was fairly picky about where I wanted to go. I think 10 is a decent number and you could possibly get away with fewer.

Have you not gotten the sense from anywhere you interviewed that they genuinely want you and you will most very likely match there should you choose them? I certainly have - and I'm no Huckleberry.

Not yet, doing first interview tomorrow.

I'm cutting this program do to especially high cost/time commitment to go there compared to other programs. I'm not entirely sure which program is last on my list otherwise.
