Hey everyone! Hope all the applications/interviewing is going well! I was just wondering, out of all the interviews offered, how many did everyone actually decide to attend? The reason I'm asking is because I know most (maybe all) schools give you 2 weeks after acceptance to decide if you would like to attend that school or not (and put down money!). It can be expensive to go to every interview, so I was just wondering how everyone worked out their schedules, as far as scheduling interviews while still waiting to hear from other schools about acceptances or interview invitations.

(I have an interview with PCO in January and was just offered 2 more today at SCO and UMSL, but am still waiting to hear back from 4 more schools)

i am not in your situation, so i can only tell you what i did: i recieved an interview invite from PCO very early on in the application cycle, so i scheduled it for Nov. 1. then i recieved an interview invite from SUNY, so i scheduled in for Nov. 7. Not a week later, NECO invited me for an interview, and since NECO was my first choice school, i set up the interview as soon as possible, which happened to be Oct. 31. i was lucky, because i was able to do my NECO and PCO interviews on the same trip, keeping the flying costs down. i was even luckier in that i was accepted by NECO on Nov. 4, so i emailed SUNY and cancelled my interview with them. that's it. i hope this helps. for sure if you have been invited for so many interviews already, this is a good sign and you must have the marks to back it up. personally, i would SCHEDULE interviews (preferably with your first choice school earliest, and so on), and see what happens. maybe you'll get an acceptance letter and can forgo your other interviews! 🙂

even though they give you two weeks you can hold your spot usually with a $500 deposit and so one other thing to consider is that a lot of the schools will refund 80% or so of your deposit. So you can plan on getting some of the money back that you have to use to hold your acceptance. But yes I agree with you that costs can add up even with the best planning. However if you aren't sure on your choice of school an interview and school visit can be worth the $ because it can help you decide which school is best for you (hopefully we all have that option of being a good enough candidate that we do the choosing and not the school). I've been able to narrow down my schools of choice to 3 just through all my research and preferences and if I can't narrow it down more than that when I'm applying next year then I'll go to all three schools if offered interviews.

Unfortunately my interviews are months apart, and hopefully I will be choosing the school not the other way around. Make sure you don't hold someone else's much needed spot. 🙂

🙂 hopefully no one will needlessley hold a spot...there are though situations where holding a spot, for a period of time, is essential and that is why most schools have students deposit. it helps the student and the school. you're situation where your interviews are months apart is one of these situations. best wishes.

I did as some others have said. I scheduled my first choice first and the other two interviews later. I was accepted by my first choice school before the other interviews so I was able to cancel any unnecessary trips to the other schools. It worked for me and was cheaper in the long run.

I agree too. The one challenge I've had is I've not been able to narrow it down to 1 school yet so interviewing/visiting may be what it will take to help me identify my #1. ??? all situations are a bit different, think I.

It never hurts to go to more interviews. I was invited to interview at every school that I applied to. I arleady went to one interview, will be going to a 2nd and possibly a 3rd. Even if you do interview at your top choice school, it is always good to go to other interviews as well....that way you KNOW that you are making the right decision.

for those of you accepted to SUNY and/or ICO...do they require an admissions deposit when they offer you an accpetance? And if so, how much is it, is it refundable and by when do you have to committ to those schools? I am thinking of adding them to my list (that currently consists of Pacific, SCCO and SCO).
Thank you.

ICO will send you an acceptance letter in the mail. You have 30 days from the date of the letter to send in a $500 deposit. The deposit is credited to the first quarter tuition. And I quote, "Should an accepted student withdraw, a portion of the tuition, $250, is refundable until May 15th. If an accepted student withdraws after May 15th, the tuition deposit is non-refundable." Hope this helps!

that does, thank you. anyone know on SUNY?

for SUNY, you have to send a $500 deposit within 30 days. it's 100% refundable before april 1st, and 50% refundable before may 15th.
