How many interviews would someone with a 3.8/38 who has a decent amount of clinical, research, volunteering experience, and average PS/LORs get at the following schools:

(CA resident)

UCLA (Geffen)
UCSF School of Medicine
Stanford School of Medicine
Duke U School of Medicine
Johns Hopkins Medicine
UPenn School of Medicine
Columbia College of P&S
Yale School of Medicine
UNC Chapel Hill Med
USC Keck
UCSD School of Medicine
Cornell Weill Medical College
Northwestern (Feinberg)
UChic (Pritzker)
Vanderbilt U School of Medicine
Emory U School of Medicine
UMich Medical School
Mayo Medical School
Albert Einstein (Yeshiva)
Wake Forest U School of Medicine

(20 random good med schools)

???

I would predict 7-8... right?

I had similar stats with somewhat lacking clinical/volunteering and I got 8 interviews out of 14 apps. 4/8 of them were top 20's according to usnews.

But it's hard to predict stuff like this since there's a large degree of luck/randomness that goes into it. With high numbers I would guess you get a good number of interviews.

Edit: I'm not a CA resident.

This post annoys me.

If the person just submitted their application this late in the cycle, then probably not too many with an "average PS and LORs".

I was assuming that the person applied early in the cycle hahaha.

It depends on a lot of things.

Someone can have those scores and a crappy PS or LORS.

It seems to be random and based quite a bit on luck?

How is this a troll post? Like what possible way could you interpret this as trolling? Because your stats are below a 3.8/38 and you feel insecure when others talk about getting interviews with such stats? Because people are talking about admissions to top schools that you can't get into?

I don't see how the OP was a troll post. I can see why you think it is though.

Seems like a troll post to me... because all the OP has to do is type his MCAT score and GPA into MDapps, or scrutinize the LizzyM spreadsheet. It's peculiar because no other important details have been provided. Imagine if some guy posted, "I got a 40 MCAT, how many acceptances do you think I will get?"

He certainly did... lol

Dude, you have done a fantastic job with the 3.8/38 combo... just let the process play out and answer the question that way. You're so above average that you shouldn't get the cold shoulder even from the high volume of top 20s you are shooting for.

As much as we like to think that this isn't "all about numbers", a lot of times it is. Schools like to invite awesome MCATs like yours to the earlier interview dates and push the 32 and unders to the backburner regardless of ECs. Based on the merit of your stats you will be FINE. As long as there are no huge glaring red flags in ur app...

Good luck!

Hahaha, no, I meant "original post" by "OP."

I DO NOT have a 3.8/38!!! Nor do I predict that I will have those! Honestly, I just wanted to know how selective upper tier schools are with their interview giving.

LizzyM's spreadsheet doesn't at all tell you how likely you are of getting an interview. I thought that spreadsheet was more of a "should I apply or not" kind of thing.

Thanks for the kindness, but I don't have a 3.8/38 lol (I wish!).

If everything else is good, I'd guess around 8-9.

Huh? No one in this topic said he has a 3.8/38, so who's this "guys" referring to? And shindotp didn't compare his stats with yours...

Drunk post?
