I'm curious who is in the MD/PhD track that is applying to neurology this year? I wonder if "we" are under- or overrepresented here on SDN.

Being such a slacker, I just certified mine a couple of days ago. My school is even more a slacker and is sooo behind on sending in grades, dean's letter, LOR, etc... 🙁

Well you can at least relax on the part about the dean's letter since most schools don't submit those till Nov 1. At least you got your part in!

No other MD/PhDs this year?

I am an MD PhD at UTSW, and I know of at least two other mudphuds applying to neurology from our school.

Phake, most years there are quite a few. At some interviews at academic centered programs up to 50% of the other applicants you meet will be some type of MD-PhD.

Mudphud from chicago ....

Judging by last year's NRMP match outcomes, probably around 70 of 700 applicants (both US and IMGs). about 10% of AMGs applying for neuro have PhDs. But there are a lot of non-MD/PhDs who are into research / acads.

Regardless .... we're a small group of people, and will run into each other in interviews and beyond, professionally. Let's stay in touch...

Good Luck MD/PhDs .... remember, nationally, there is a push for residency programs to offer flexible residencies to allow for research during residency if you want it 🙂 Don't be afraid to ask at your prospective programs ...
