Ok, here it is- How many of you have a job. No, Im not talking about working weekends or just one day a week. Alot of students I go to school with-->

1. Dont Work- Parents pay everything
2. Work weekends
3. Work 1-2 days a week

I just want to know how much everyone works, as in days a week and/or hours a week. I work a total of 5 days a week and have one day off for night class. During semesters I wouldnt have a night class I would work 6 days a week for one week and 5 days the next week. I usually average 72 or 74 hours every two weeks, sometimes 77 hours depending on the month. There are a few students I go to school with that work about as much as I do but the majority fall into what I mentioned.

Im just curious what everyone is doing outside of homework and school. Please let me know!! Thanks everyone!!

People work too, not just you. Majority don't.

Do you think Im trying to say that "Im the only person that works"--??--or what? Anyways.....Im just curious to know how much everyone works-thats all.

And NO- Im not saying that Im the only person that works, Im not that kind of person that is a "one upper" or whatever. Just looking to see what everyones got to say thats all

I go with option 1... However, i have some responsibilities at home, so my free time i spend helping to my family.

Some weeks I work a day or two other weeks I don't work any. I had worked for ten years though before going back to school and saved up enough money to where I was able to focus on school and not work. It also helps that I go to a lower priced university so I get a little money back from my grants and scholarship.

i typically work for pay for 10-15 hours a week, and i work for "free" in a lab about 8-10 hours a week 🙂

When I was in school we had a coop program so we would study for 4 months and we would go through an application process to find a relevant job and work there for 4 months. I paid off my entire tuition this way...Although in Canada, we have more government subsidization of our post secondary education (typically 2000 (BA/BSc)/semester in tuition + 2000 lodging + 1000 books - accountants, engineers, math pay about 6000 per 4 months). Those coop jobs students made anywhere from 12 to 40 bucks an hour depending on field and experience. My university bill amounted to 50k+ but that was paid off in a flash.

Now I work more than 5 days a week but I've already graduated. Coop was good in that it gave you relevant work experience so you can find jobs relatively easily upon graduation (your resume is packed and written well via training). I'm in health care analytics.

In school I would never have dreamed of working if I wanted to keep a high GPA...It's difficult to balance like that and it's a shame people might fall through the cracks on GPA simply because they didn't have enough money.

I work full time 40+ hrs a week and pay my own tuition etc. now.

In graduate school I paid for one year with loans and spent all my time working for free for the department that there was no time to make any money. For the second year I had an assistantship that paid tuition and stipend.

In undergrad my parents paid for my tuition and sent me money for rent. I still worked 2 on-campus jobs for a total of about 20 hrs a week. (In an effort to create more student job positions on campus each student employee was scheduled for no more than 12hrs per week,... and no on-campus job paid more than $6.15 an hour.)

10-15 hours a week as a waiter. Recently left the job, looking for a tutoring job that is less hours and more pay.

My bills: Gas (I commute, about $50/week) and Phone ($80 / month)

20 hrs/wk in undergrad
post-grad ~65 hrs/wk on ****ty pay

if you are looking for a tutoring job make sure it has a set amount of hours (preferably 8+) a week because those things are mad flaky

I work Friday 4-10, Saturday 8-5 and Sunday 2-8.
I think it's nice, I get the rest of the week off for school.

I take 14 units and work 30 hours per week. luckily, i like being a medical assistant so it's not too bad.

My hours got cut at work, unfortunately, because we don't have much business. Most of my college experience I worked 15-25 hrs/week, which came out to 2-4 days. With a lull in business, I'm lucky to get 12 hrs. Luckily I'm married, so together my husband and I are still making enough to pay expenses.

I could have worked more, honestly, but I always had jobs that paid well above minimum wage.

I'll be working 15 hrs per week. yay for making dough!

I work 40 hrs a week as a tech in the ER and 12 hours a week as a firefighter/EMT. Its getting ridiculous though, i think im gonna go down to part time at the hospital seeing as there is no time for studying. All i have time to do is homework. I work the night shift at both as well so it is a particular strain on my circadian rhythm.

I work usually ~30 hours a week on the weekends. Yay for working double shifts.... Then, I work ~30 hours for free during the week in the lab.

It does suck, that is for sure. I just trained my body to follow the new sleep patterns.

I think im getting used to the new sleep patterns, it is just rediculuous when i dont have the time to actually sleep during the week. I have class from 9-5 on wednesdays, then work 7pm-7am. On thursday mornings when i get off work i have class from 8am-12. Then by the time i get home at 1pm Im not even tired.

I work about 30 hours/week and pay my own tuition and bills. Most people here do not. Most of my friends from back home do. My boyfriend works full time (40 hrs/week) night shift and sleeps in the afternoons after his classes. So I'm not complaining.

Don't work cause I'm toooooo lazy. :scared: LOL, joke I don't work because I can't find a job. I wish I had one though. That way I wouldn't feel so guilty taking all of my parents money, which they are short on anyways. 🙁

I work 15-20 hrs/wk at a fast food restaurant (Subway) as an Assistant manager and as a tutor. Good times...

Yeah I feel yeah realthinker. If it were the same consistent sleep pattern, it wouldnt be so bad. But on some days when im not working i try to sleep normal hours. i only do work 3 days a week but that is because for my position we only have 2 shifts 7a-7p and 7p-7a.

What i also find is tough(and youre doing this as well if i read correctly?), is trying to go to class after a full night of work. When i get off work, thats the last thing i want to do.

I go with option 1... However, i have some responsibilities at home, so my free time i spend helping to my family.

I have responsibilities at home and I work as well. 🙂

In college I didn't really work until 2nd year. I basically created and managed the website for my dad's biotech small business. I also went home on 3-day weekends to help with work. I tutored, but not for long just a semester. I also did a co-op while working for a semester.

Now I work full time 40 hrs a week and will be finishing my prereqs part time. If you can, find a work study job that lets you sit free at a library or something. I saw my friends getting paid upwards of $8-10 / hr for just sitting and doing nothing. Wayyy easier than tutoring.
