I'm just curious....

how many of you just study mainly from review books because you're lazy, like me, or just don't have time to crack open those big ass textbooks?

and do many of your classmates do the same.....?

I have not seen many med students using the text books ..most use class syllabi and/or power points and/or review books. I do not use the review book exclusively..I mostly study with class syllabus and then use the review book to hone concepts and do the quizzes at the end of the section.

I used Netter for anatomy (duh) but I didn't use our actual text beyond the first quiz when I realized lectures/Netter would be enough. I used my immunology book some but in retrospect I wouldn't have really needed to. I use Bates Physical Examination as a reference when I'm not sure about something... I've been using my Neuro book pretty extensively since the quality of our lectures has been a bit lacking; even so I don't read it word for word... I skim, read paragraphs, the pictures/diagrams are especially useful.

So in response... in general I don't use the main text a whole lot but I think having it as a reference isn't a bad idea. I have BRS Pathology, High Yield Neuro, and Robbins Review of Pathology (and pocket guide); however I still open the big Robbins from time to time. *shrugs* Not too helpful I realize.
