Anybody have any idea what the average number of acceptances are on 12/1. I seriously doubt it I will get any interview invites before then and I don't want to be one of the 200 spots left on Dec 2. I have read somewhere here that Case already has their class picked out and is only interviewing for waitlist spots.

They may, but that doesn't mean EVERYBODY will accept their offer, nor that they will even fill their class (although they may have filled it in years past by offering the exact same number of acceptances).

The REAL question isn't how many spots are open on Dec 2, but how many spots are open on January 15--the final date deposits are due following Dec 1 acceptances.

There are about 4,000 seats available between all dental schools, and I'd guess that about that many acceptances go out on Dec 1. But come Jan 15, I'd say there are still about 2,000-1,500 seats available.

Thanks Gavin, and keep a spot open in Arizona for me, my family and I will all thank you.

Gavin,

Do you know how many offers Arizona is going to make on the first? You said that there is no "waitlist" so if I interviewed before December 1 (actually it is on Wednesday), will I hear either way in the first week of December?

I have no idea how many offers they will send out. In regards to the waitlist, they have a minimal waitlist--meaning you are more likely to either get accepted or get denied versus getting a letter saying you are on a waitlist.

And, that doesn't mean that you willl hear anything that first week of December. They may not accept you and they may not deny you.

Bingo. While at Case I was informed that they will be sending out a bunch of acceptance letters on December 1st but only plan on having half, if that, take them up on the offer. Keep in mind that people will make their deposit money and then go to another school later on in the application cycle. Thus, the book is not closed come December 1st.

Also, they don't send the acceptance letters in cycles. If you don't receive anything on or around Dec 1 doesn't mean you will not get in. They might send it later on. For me, I received the acceptance letter from Case on Dec 19 after my interview on the 15th.

just emphasis musketer's point more..

once dec 1st comes... schools will just send out acceptance as they wish or they have to wait till january 15th?
