how many organic chemistry reactions for DAT?

looking at kaplan DAT, they have very limited # of ochem rxns, but there are so many more, so i was doubting how accurate it was. i am studying from my ochem text book, so i was wondering if knowing those will be overkill, or they are all fair game?

anyone know of a book which covers all the rxns needed? thanks.

It's a good idea to memorize the reactions in your text book. KAPLAN's reactions are very limited and if you limit your studying to those reactions you'll do poorly on the OC section of your exam.

Yet, they don't cover all the reactions one needs to know in order to score 20+ on the DAT.

Yes, the OP meant "reactions" so, going over roadmaps are helpful in reactions questions.

There are still a lot that you need to know like nomenclature, aromaticity, stereochemistry, NMR, IR, GC, lab techniques, etc.

We need to know ALL reactions in our textbook!? I have Mcmurray.

Its the luck of the draw of what test you get

I got a 18 using only kaplan..then a 19 using only kaplan..then a 15...

Use everything you can get your hands on

Destroyer has been a great supplement so far..ill let you know on my dday

If I were you Id use Kaplan first, then text, then destroyer

You can go through your text quickly since youve already taken the course.

Taking notes on reactions, physical properties, stereochemistry

things like that

also: Organic chemistry as a second language helped me with the visualizing the 3D structures. I cant even begin to explain how lost I was at that, converting between:

chairs, boats, newman projections, rings, sawhorse projections, and fischer projections!

It helped ALOT, now I am a pro at it.
