Hey!

I was wondering if you guys could share the best way to study for Step - 1 based on how many pages of FA to review at a time and questions from QBank. I have read the entire chapter twice (micro) and then tried the questions but I am not doing well. Should I do the subject based questions or just random block? How many pages of FA do you memorize a day? I just finished my first year and I am hoping to get a head start for boards. I know it seems like I am a gunner- but in actuality I think I need the extra review... Lol

Thanks in advance🙂

well it does seem like you are a gunner but i understand. I felt the same way last year. now i'm happily beyond the world of step 1. but i like to pop in when i have time and drop advice.

first, you have to know what "doing well" means on uworld or kaplan. most people start as low as 40s or 50s percentage wise at the end of their 2nd year, when they begin to study. Most people agree that when you are hitting 70s consistently, you are in range of 240 or maybe even beyond.

so if you were getting 40s or 50s, that's OK. generally takes doing like 1000 questions to get to 60s, and over 3500/4000 to be able to regularly get into the 70s. Of course i'm taking about doing questions from all sections, not just micro.

I think it is a GOOD idea that you are sticking with one or two subjects right now. keep doing that until 2nd yr is about 5/8s done. then try to get through first aid at least once before 2nd yr ends dedicated study time starts.

main idea for right now is to LEARN from the questions. don't worry about increasing your score before doing 2nd year. I know people that couldn't get above 60% until 2 weeks before their test, but then skyrocketed because they truly learned from every question they got wrong. And went on to do well in step 1.

Thank you so much for your input! What is a good number of pages to study at a time before attempting questions?
