Hello,
I am considering to pediatric dental residency positions this year. I recently heard pediatric dentists see, on an average, 30-50 patients everyday.
1. Is that true?! How?!
2. How do you find time to put the notes in?
Sorry if the questions seem amateur. I just don't want to sign up for something I can't manage.
Thanks ahead for your replies

Maybe because most kids tend to have simpler treatments like simple check-ups and cleanings? Digital notes with templates can make things much faster if the patients are straightforward.

Our 2 Pedodontists see 30 to 50 pts. Kids have short attention spans unless you heavily sedate them which can be unpredictably risky. My GP sister tried to sedate a 3 y/o whose parents are both DAs. The kid started turning blue because the father decided it was wise to have him drink before the appt. Both parents in the dental field decide it is very cool to let their son's teeth rot out which I still can't understand.

During hospital days, they will see a lot less cases. Ignorant people can say you guys only do temp work on baby teeth. It is a very stressful specialty. Most of the kids are on welfare and state assistance (fees are low and state controlled. Molar endo is only $176.00). Their parents are usually Meth users, prostitutes, and criminals. One of our Pedodontist is in her late 30's with no child of her own and she looks 50ish. Unless you can secure an Unicorn high end cushy practice in white suburbia, this is what you get.

The pedo DAs do the chart notes and the dr signs them. When you have to deal with so many charts, see my post on Dental Charting.
