how many ppl does NYU usually interview each cycle? And how many ppl does NYU accept each cycle? Thanks

My guess is that the number of kids they accept each year, is their class size

wrong, Pal. Schools ACCEPT MORE than their class size because not everyone who gets an acceptance chooses to attend that school.:idea:

And so the battle of the idea smileys began.:idea::idea:

But, yes, Fonz is right. They have to accept more people than they have seats for because not everyone accepted will attend the school. There will be many applicants with multiple acceptances. Also, some applicants will choose not to attend NYU because of its price.

Yeah haha. Originally I had 11 but there is a cap at 10 smileys so I busted it down to two so I won't seem like i'm being too much of an ass.

Which, of course, begs the hypothetical, if not highly unlikely question of what they would do if everyone accepted chose to attend...?

the admissions lady told me they're interviewing about 1000 applicants. 😱

Large class, expensive tuition, meaning a lot of people are going to go somewhere else if given the chance. This makes perfect sense.

Now if NYU will only let me know what is going on with my application.

I don't think EVERYONE would ever choose to attend, thats a little extreme, but they can over accept. Case did this for their class of 2010. 85 people accepted for 70 spots. What they did was tell the students the situation and offer to differ enrollment for the next year to students who really didn't want to be in an over crowded class. I don't think anyone accepted that offer and so they are just learning to deal with the extra amount of people.
