I was just wondering if there was a typical range or average of number of schools/programs individuals apply to for MPH. What is everyone doing?

I'm still debating which ones I should apply to.

Thank you!

I'm applying to 8 different schools but I think this might be overkill. I'm trying to match up with my fiancee's med school plans. List is:

Hopkins
Berkeley
UNC-Chapel Hill
University of Michigan
University of Minnesota
University of Pittsburgh
Boston University
Tulane

I'm applying to 5... which I still think is a lot, haha.

Hopkins
Harvard
Pittsburgh
Emory
BU
(possibly U of South Florida)

I'm applying to 8 as well...

UNC-CH
UNC-G
USF
Tulane
UIC
BU
Emory
Drexel

Some points of my application are weaker than others so I applied to a broad range of schools that matched my interests to (hopefully) give me the most options come decision time.

I applied to 7...
Emory
UMich
UIC
BU
Yale
UPitt
GW

10. I guess I'm going a little overboard, but I just have no idea how competitive this field is.
Yale, UMich, Berkeley, UCLA, Harvard, Pitt, GWU, BU, Emory, Minnesota

i'm applying to only 4. Since i'm straight out of undergrad, and I don't have much career/volunteer experience I don't expect to get into the best schools. USF, UF, UMiami, BU.. (from FL) but my hopes are on BU!

I'm applying to six...

New York Medical College
University of Albany
Yale
University of Pittsburgh
Washington University in St. Louis
Emory

hmm, I should probably clarify... I'm applying to MS programs in epi, not MPH. I <3 research!

I've only applied to BU for this coming spring, but I work here, so it's a no brainer having it at the top of the list. If I don't get in, then I'll probably retake the GREs and include more schools.

Im applying to a bunch as well...

Cal
UCLA
U of Washington
U of Texas
U of Illinios-Chicago
U of Michigan
U of Florida
Ohio State
BU
and UNC if im not lazy...

all MPH epi, with second choice HPM when available

i'm applying at 10 too:

UCLA
UC Berkeley
UC Davis
SDSU
Yale
Columbia
GWU
Emory
Dartmouth
University of Washington

i might add on University of Michigan too..

JHU
UW
GWU
SDSU
BU
Brown
Columbia

Heh, I thought 4 was a lot:

UW
Yale
Harvard
UC Berkeley

I'm applying to 6. Yale, Hopkins, Columbia, Dartmouth, Boston, and Emory.

If I hadn't gotten into my top choice I was going to apply to 6 other schools (Columbia, Harvard, GW, Yale, Drexel, BU)

I'm applying to Biostatistics MS programs at:
UMass Amherst
University of Pittsburgh
UNC Chapel Hill
Emory
Brown
and probably U. Michigan

Also applying to University of Rhode Island (Statistics MS) and University of Connecticut (MS Statistics-Biostats concentration)

I only applied to one school for my MPH (back in 2006 or early 2007) and was accepted, and will be applying to only one school for a PhD (epidemiology) program this fall. 🙂
