How many times did you read First Aid before taking Step 1?

What percentage of Step 1 questions do you think can be answered with FA (assuming that you actually understand the material and didn't just memorize the words)?

I put 4 but it was 3 solid times through and then a 4th very quick gloss through where I skipped a lot of stuff I thought was less important or hadn't highlighted before.

Personally, I would make sure I got through FA with a fine-toothed comb the first time through. But after that, you should more or less know the things you are good at.

At that point, I think that you need to be careful, and weigh the benefit of a 'complete runthru' v targeting the areas where you are weak. Personally, I don't think it's worth it do a fourth run of a subject you know, when you could have done extra time on the stuff you don't.

If you know some isolated fact; it's really not worth rehashing. If you don't know a page and it will take you 6 times through to learn it, then you should do that page 6 times thru, but you probably don't need to read the whole book.

Know thyself.

Which NBME exam should I take to evaluate my step 1 score? I've never taken one before and the test is Friday. Just want to make sure I'm not going to bomb. Some say clinical science and others say basic science. Which should I choose?

Basic science

At least 95% is in FA.
Agreed...i would say somewhere around there. Some people need repition(like me)...i think I got through it 4 times plus I read alot of the pages when i was going over RX questions. Some of my friends are different and really take their time learning things and only go over it twice. I think we both end up spending about the same time studying, and do pretty similarly.h
