secondary/supplemental applications does one have to get, out of the total primary applications sent, in order to have a good chance for interview? 25%, 50%, 75% or what? Also along the same line, how many interviews does one has to have for a good chance at an acceptance? I know no one knows for sure but for those that have been accepted what is your opinion? Anyone in-the-know is also welcome to chime in. Thanks!

I'm not sure, but I am sure that I am sick of filling out secondaries. Too stinkin' many of them. All of the DO schools that I applied to and some of the Allopathic. Please let it end! I guess I shouldn't complain, it's better than none.

Most schools provide you secondary automatically. Number of interviews depend on you really. I got interviewed at 2 schools and I got in at both.

No kidding. It's like during the school year. I keep on hoping that the weekend will come soon so I can catch up lol. The thing that gets to me is one school, don't remember which one right now probably at the bottom of my pile right now, wants a letter from my premed advisor NOT just any science professors. My premed advisor is known to agree to write one but will not respond to emails after that! I've been emailing that person for the past couple of weeks and still no replies!

Just checked, it is MSU-COM. If I'm wrong let me know. This is the one time I wish I'm wrong!

So bummed I don't have MSUCOM yet!!! 🙁 And I am a MI resident!

I really don't think getting many secondaries indicates anything (sorry to be a pessimist, but just being real). Getting multiple interviews does somewhat increase your chances since you made it past the inital hurdle. However, some schools do place much emphasis on the interview, but who really knows unless you're an adcom member. Just make sure your essays ROCK and that you are yourself if and when you interview. Once the interview is over you know you have the chance to be accepted, waitlisted, or rejected. But from what everyone says, apply early (which is now)!

Good Luck!

My opinion...

secondaries don't mean anything, everyone gets them

and maybe like 3 interviews with average stats would get you in?? who knows 🙂
