Hey guys thought it would be interesting to see how much caffeine each of us has a day.
For the survey,
1 cup of coffee=8 oz so adjust accordingly
Consider other caffeinated beverages to follow the same rules as coffee
For those taking caffeine pills, 1 cup of coffee equals 95 mg of caffeine.

How is 9 or more an option? That person wouldn't be alive to cast this :l (at least I hope people aren't drinking that much, that's a LOT of coffee)

Haha that's how many spaces I was allowed so I figured I would fill it up until that point. I sure hope someone isn't consuming that much caffeine.

When I worked for Starbucks, there was a regular who used to sit down, order a venti coffee and get two refills after he downed the first one. That's 60 ounces of coffee, not 9 cups but pretty close.

Coffee is great until I get that post-caffeine rush anxiety attack and think I'm dying. A small brewed coffee at Dunkin or Starbucks is about 150mg caffeine, so if I don't space that out over a few hours I feel like I need a defibrillator. Red Bull at 80ish mg caffeine is where I prefer to be at when I study.

You all make me feel like I have a coffee problem. I drink AT LEAST 5-6 cups a day

The moment I walk into the door at 7 am I start the day by seeing two patients. I then start a two hour long procedure shortly after. I am an unhappy grump without coffee.

I take a 200mg caffeine pill when I wake up most mornings. Don't you know coffee is bad for your teeth?

1-2 cups of coffee in the morning while getting ready. 2 is ideal, but if I'm crunched for time it's 1. Grande coffee from Starbucks at some point in the morning usually. Diet Coke with lunch. Afternoon pick-me-up coffee. Diet Coke with dinner. Espresso after dinner with some dark chocolate to cleanse the palate so to speak. And then black tea (which has caffeine in it) around 11PM or so.

That's on a day when I am not studying. If I'm studying, add in another 2-3 cups of coffee depending on how late I'm staying up to study.

Edit:
Counted. That's 7-8 units of caffeine a day. I have a problem. But I get actual withdrawal headaches if I don't have at least 5 caffeinated beverages throughout the day.

I'm not sure that's true. It's all the other stuff people put into their coffee that's bad for your teeth (or the rest of your health! Starbucks lattes are chock full of sugar and fat).

@Bucks783 does coffee have any particular effect on you? Do you just choose not to drink it? I'm just curious because everyone looks at me like I'm crazy when I say I don't drink coffee haha

I am actually also 29 and it doesn't do anything for me except have to go to the bathroom haha. And sometimes gives me a headache. I have worked 7AM-midnight shifts plenty of times and did not need or want coffee. People looked/still look at me like I am crazy when I say I don't drink it or red bull or energy drinks

Haha I'm the same exact way. No coffee, no red bull, and no energy drinks. It just doesn't do anything for me either.

I'm pretty sure a cup of coffee is traditionally thought of as 6oz, and I know plenty of people (myself included on occasion) who drink 54oz+ of coffee/day. How do you know you're a true coffee addict? A thread on coffee brings you from the pre-allo to the pre-dental forum haha.

How many* equivalents do you consume each day should be the question in the poll. Not "how much equivalents". Sorry one of my biggest grammar pet peeves.
Oh crap sorry! I tried to change it but unfortunately it is locked :/

I drink two cups black a day. Has anyone ever tried pumping coffee through an IV? I don't want to stain my teeth.

I like to keep it between 4 to maybe 5 cups a day. With quality coffee the caffeine "buzz" is more desirable and lasts longer. Sometimes I'm willing to pay $5 for starbucks because I can actually feel the caffeine.

I drink 1 cup o'coffee in the morning and green tea for lunch and dinner for my healthy doze of caffeine to help get me through work

I never drink coffee/caffeine. Does nothing for me, and at best just speeds up my heart. I think my body metabolizes it differently.

This is how it affects me: If my brain is feeling groggy/sleepy/sluggish and I decide to drink a regular cup of coffee it will not affect me at all. But if I were to have a stronger cup of coffee my heart would start to beat faster. And then Id be in this weird off-putting state where my brain is still in sleep mode and my body feels like it wants to workout. Completely counterproductive for studying.

But then again even if caffeine did work for me like it does for others, I still wouldnt need it. Im usually full of energy and the times that Im not, I always have my anxiety to help keep my mind alert and sharp haha

I like the taste of coffee but I don't want to ride that slippery slope where you start off drinking it a couple days a week, then move on to every day, and end up needing it multiple times a day.

Coffee - not even once.

I'm the same way. Energy drinks mess with my heart so much I refuse to drink them. I drank one before high school once and I swear my heart actually slowed to a scary rate....

I don't think Dr peppers really aids my alertness, but rather makes me happy because it makes the world taste better

My hands get shaky if i drink coffee so I've learn to live without them. I'm also saving a whole bunch of money each week that just goes straight to alcohol so there's that.

Chicken n Beer I like ur style

Zero - I don't want to become completely dependent on something in order to function, nor would I want to feel the effects of coffee withdrawal like those splitting headaches. Can you imagine how much people spend on coffee a year? The price of an individual cup may appear cheap ranging from $1-4, but the cost adds up if you glance at it from a distance. Especially for the people who purchase coffee from their local Dunks or Starbucks multiple times a day, you could be spending upwards of $400 annually at the very least. It's addictive, so I'd rather not jump on the caffeine train and then struggle to board off the tracks once I'm on.

More of a green smoothie guy.

Crap load of kale, some strawberries, a banana, 2 scoops of chocolate protein, 2 table spoons of virgin olive oil, 2 teaspoons of fish oil and 15000mu vitamin D. If that doesn't give you a nice boost of energy for a few hours, nothing will.

3 cups or I get headaches 🙁
