What do you actually use most? I know the "correct" answer should be a mixture of both, but i'm interested in what you guys actually do in simlab, clinic and the real world.

Do you try your best to gain direct vision of some kind? This is much easier to do in simlab than with an actual patient.

Do you live between 11-1 and try to use your mirror as much as possible?

Direct vision + tactile sensation. I say I use indirect vision to determine any remaining caries on occlusal/axial walls of class 2's and making sure preps draw/taper. Mirrors are used to check most of the time.

I never use 11-1. I always do 9-11 for every procedure (maybe the rare 8oclock position for certain angles).

A greater ratio of indirect to direct than I used to for sure. My back at the end of the day appreciates the proper posture over the few seconds that bending myself into positions to use direct vision over indirect vision allows for.

Just like Tanman, I function in the 9-11 position the overwhelming majority of the time

After a while, you learn that indirect vision is faster.
You can move the mirror to see something faster then you can move your head, neck, back, body, etc.
