He was an aboriginal Italian male, and when he got into med school, it was perceived by others that he got in primarily because of his native background among his peers and co-applicants. This was only partially true, however, because he actually did show promise as a medical student above others and had a very compelling personal statement essay in Latin, which was not his native language.
