How much does "Commitment to medicine" matter?

Does commitment to medicine work in your favor or can someone decide within the last few months that they want to go to medical school?

If you have demonstrated through medical employment, EC's, and other things that this is something you want to do, are you looked at any differently than someone who just has the numbers who decides that this is something they want to do?

Yes, schools look for some demonstration of commitment to task. Numbers alone do not get a person accepted.

But is it something major or something trivial. I'm asking because I have a few years before I apply and I don't know if I should do anything more to demonstrate this commitment.

If they place a decent amount of emphasis on it then I think I'm in pretty good shape because I have clinical exposure for the past decade.

I'm confused why you care. You posted in the last day elsewhere on SDN that you were absolutely getting into medical school based upon your connections.

Tom, I'm not being critical of your postings so I would ask you do the same for me.

It's a legitimate question that I am interested in and I'm sure many others are too.
