Okay so I think there is a good chance I am getting a B or B+ in Biochem, understand I have gotten a B in Bio I and Bio II. This and Spanish are the only Bs on my transcript. Will medical schools look at this and see I have a disadvantage in the Biological Sciences? My major is Chemistry and I do fine in all those courses. I am currently doing 6 credits of research which is 24-30hrs per week in a Biochemistry lab. Would this help negate the fact that I am bad in biology? I understand the concepts completely in lab, but in the bio courses I feel most times you are memorizing useless facts that I am never going to use again, or that have no purpose. Should I be worried about the abundance of Bs in biologically specifically or does research help counter that?

Research isn't going to specifically "counter" your Bs (which aren't the end of the world--had a D in Bio I myself). Something specific that would "counter" your Bs would be to rock that section of the MCAT. It's unlikely that you will be asked about your Bs in biology, but if so, come up with a better reason than you dislike memorizing useless facts that you are never going to use again--this doesn't end when you start medical school.

I wouldn't get neurotic over it. As long as your overall GPA and sGPA are high, I'm sure they aren't reading into the breakdown quite as much as you are (plus, you got Bs, not like you failed).

As for the research "making up" for it, I just think it is something else that shows you possess critical thinking skills, nothing more nothing less.
