I'm doing my FP rotation right now, and the doctor also works a nightly shift in the ER every week. He told me that shadowing him in the ER is optional but I was welcome to be there. The first week I went for 4 hours (til midnight) and then left because I had to be back at the hospital at 7 am for lectures. I didn't go the next week because I was tired and decided I could wait til my ER rotation. But now I feel like a bad student because I'm not putting in the extra effort. So how much extra is enough? Being with my family in the late evening is more important than doing extra shadowing. Is this ok??
