This might be a dumb question, but how many entries can we put on the application for things like ECs and Comm Service and Dental Experience?
For every section of AADSAS you get a certain number of slots to describe different activities. With each slot you get to put the organization that you did it with, the dates of participation, your position with the organization, and then you get 175 characters (including spaces) to describe what you did. 175 characters is a little less than two full sentences, so you don't actually write complete sentences. You might say, "Worked with at-risk inner-city youth in after school program" instead of "During my sophomore year of college I participated in a youth mentoring program for at-risk young adults in inner-city Cleveland." You really don't have much space at all, so figure out the best way to pack in the useful information. However, on your personal statement you most definitely
do want to use complete sentences. Everything else just try to pack in the info.
This is how it breaks down:
Personal Statement - 1 box, 4500 characters including spaces
Extracurricular and Service - 10 slots (for seperate activities), 175 characters per slot, including spaces
Research Experience - 5 slots, 175 characters per slot
Work Experience (including military) - 5 slots, 175 characters per slot
Awards, Honors, Scholarships - 5 slots, only get to write the name of the awarding organization, the name of the award, and the date received. No description available in this section. (This section should be expanded IMO)
Dentistry Experience - 10 slots, 175 characters per slot
Activities that show manual dexterity - 1 slot, 600 characters to describe your experiences.
There are also some special situation boxes, if you have ever been on academic probation, if you have ever been suspended for cheating or violating schools rules, if you come from an underserved background, ect. You get 600 characters to describe each on of those.
