How much help can I ask of my school re: rank lists?

Probably being super paranoid, but I considered running my rank list by my advisor, who happens to be on the admission board at my school...would that in any way violate NRMP or jeopardize my chances at getting into my own school (ie. could they then rank me lower if they realize they're not my top 3)?

A good friend of mine did this - went to the chair and PD of my program for rank list help. They were very helpful, apparently. He just said - leaving this program out of the mix, how would you rank these OTHER programs. Simple, straightforward. I think they do this all the time.
