I mean time and energy one can devote for her/his family while go through the dental school. I'm pretty sure my hubby can't handle our kids all by himself even if he stays home full-timely. Even I can't do that 24-7, I need his help occasionally. I just wonder, how many hours I can stay with my family especially my kids when I am a student. How much energy I can save for them?

Dental school does take a lot of time-- some times 8-5 in classes/clinic and then homework/lab work... BUT IT CAN BE DONE... look for daycare, or nearby relatives you trust. Your husband can work while the kids are in daycare.

Taking off from school is not a good idea. Dental school is not a part time task. Unfortunately while I was full time teaching, and even now in a residency teaching I have seen family problems.

Discuss all possibilities with your husband and the relatives. Seek loans.
Dentistry is well worth it... but still the family comes first

I agree with RARM - well said!

Dental school is not at all easy to get through, and it is made even worse if you have a family that relies on you. However, like all other things, you can put little things aside for a bit while you concentrate on your school. You have a husband and i am sure there are some relatives that can help with the kids at times too. Grandparents are a blessing in disguise!

I am not married and do not have kids. However, I do not even get to sepnd time with my parents. I am not in a dental school as yet, but I see this time I am spending studying as an investment in the future.

You are building a career for yourself and this in turn will be a reward for your family. Stick to your goals and everything will take care of itself!

Regards..

I agree with both the pervious posts 👍
Some of the *bigger universities offer day care facilities you could find out if yours does.
Alternately most local YMCAs have day care facilities as well.
Good luck with Dental school :luck:

It's a tough situation .... period. 🙁 Just thinking about how am I gonna handle school & family has been a great source of stress & anxiety for me personally lately, and I didn't even start school yet ... sigh

I certainly respect all the people going to school full time with a family!!! Good Luck! I'm sure since you've made it this far everything will work out!
