Hello fellow doctors. I started my studying 2 weeks ago and have just been reading through the 900 page Kaplan review book. But I am now reading that everyone seems to only be using the Dental Decks and Past Papers to study. How can you guys do this? Is it really possible to get 90+ on this exam from only revising past questions?

How in the world can you guys answer problems that didn't come up in the past without reading that book?

I guess the main question I want to know is do I need to read every page of that Kaplan book, or just refer to it whenever I don't know a subject in detail. Thanks. That book is pretty long and boring.

most will tell you that you only need to use the book for reference. I read the whole thing and I think it helped me. there were plenty of questions that were not on old exams or the decks. it is still very possible to do 90+ without the book, though. it really depends on how well you did and how much you retained from your dental classes imo.

According to my humble opinion;
dental decks are more comprhensive than k review bs
if someone knows and understand the decks,who will expect more from him/her more knowledge to pass this frickin test?,this test is for second year dental school students guys,decks cover a lot of details ,
dont belittle its influence,on the other hand decks are very hard to study

and according to my opinion again,
boards have 3 types of questions
-easy,25%:you do not need to study to answer these questions
-hard,%45:you need to study at least 10 hours a day from decks and old q s for 2 months to answer these questions
-very hard:%30:these type of qs have two sub topics
-very hard but ok %20:master guys only solve these qs and get more than 85-90s
-very very hard q s%10: nobody can solve these q s including board guys
😍

I liked the end part of your answer 😉 !! Then why d they have to put in those questions 😛 !! lol...... why cant they just live and let live in peace ...... 🙂 ......

Well, it depends on howmuch time you have! if you have plenty of time and u haven't even decided when to take the exam, then Kaplan book will provide you a very great foundation so that when u go over the decks and the oldies you won't find any difficulty whatsoever! but if you are short of time, then the decks and the oldies will be quite enough, but u have to revise the decks over and over! hope you the best of luck

I think if you focus on the decks and take your time to memorize most of the words on there...you should be able to do well. Kaplan can be a good resource, but I think it would be a misuse of time to focus on the information in Kaplan.
