Hi everyone, sorry if this topic has been posted or if it's not in the right place. Let me know and I can post it wherever appropriate. Just wanted to know how much research is considered "a good amount" if i'm applying to a categorical gen surg program. If this is important: I don't really care too much about matching at top-tier programs, just a program that is not too malignant.

thank you all for your help, as always.

See for yourself. There is a broad spectrum. Most have some, but a few had none.

What I gather is being involved in some/any projects is more necessary than getting publications. Now that is how I interpret this. The reality is, of course, that publications are more impactful.

I am also interested in GS and have looked into this a lot. Have something to talk about, decent scores, and good aways/letters and you’ll match categorical AFAIC.
