How much shadowing considering my experience?

I am a 10yr certified optician/ optical manager/opthalmic tech/ lab tech. Am I still required to do the same amount of shdowing as others or will this compensate for some of it?

I would ask the schools but likely not. The whole point of shadowing is to ensure that applicants understand the business that they are getting into. With your background in the industry, you clearly have more understanding of what an optometrist is/does than someone without your experience.

Just check to make sure that the school you're interested in doesn't have a rigid requirement like "must do at least 20 hours" because if they do, you probably have to do it even though in your case is a mostly pointless task.
