This is simply a fun thread for curiosity purposes, but the question here is:

How many hours of sleep did you manage to get the night before the DAT, and do you think it affected you significantly? Plus, what advice do you have for future DAT takers?

Personally, I managed to get 8+ hours of sleep with no melatonin or any sleep aids. I simply stretched, relaxed my muscles, and took a few deep breaths. Then, I listened to this while my eyes were closed and I was trying to fall asleep. Honestly felt epic.

I went to bed around 10 and woke up at like 6 so yeah, also around 8. I slept really well for my second DAT and yes I think being well rested helped my performance. My back up plan was coffee or something but aids like that make me jittery

Set aside 8. Got 1.5. Two coffee flavored red bulls and it's a wrap.

Never tried them, but that sounds like my blinking rate would decrease by several levels lmao. 1.5 is rough, hope you did well still though!

I went to bed allowing for 8, but got around 6. I was tossing and turning for a bit. No sleep aids. I do not feel it affected my performance significantly. Adrenaline for the win!

Sounds natural, 6 isn't too bad to be honest. Sounds like you beasted through it regardless!

True, sometimes that jitteriness brings you down more than it helps! Glad you got that rest though :]

set aside more than usual because if you're anything like me, you'll be tossing and turning from anxiety. So look to get 8 hours, but be in bed 10 hours before you have to wake up.

HAHA Dude basically same. I set aside 10/+ hours for sleep and stared at my ceiling for 7 hours until I fell asleep. Then I took half a caffeine pill to avoid a disruptive bathroom break.

I did surprisingly well on the DAT considering I could hardly read/comprehend the questions for about 5 minutes when the science portion first appeared on my screen because of nerves + caffeine. Good thing most of the stuff depends on just rote memory!
