How much will a C/D in a 2 credit prereq be scritinized?

It's looking like I will end up with a C or D in my orgo lab class 2 credits. I got off to a horrible start (<30% on the first few quizzes) and now it is highly unlikely that I can bring that higher than a C)

It's a 2 credit prereq, so would a C or D mean that I have to retake the class, or would it be reluctantly acceptable for med schools?

My GPA would still be above 3.8.

I think you'll be fine with a C. If you end up with a D, though, you would probably want to retake

This is going to hurt your GPA a little bit. Is it too late to drop and take later? BTW, You need to have finished the lab before matriculating to med school, not before applying.

I had some C's and F's but they weren't in pre reqs so ... Good luck!

I could withdraw, but I really don't want to since we already finished a bunch of labs and I would have to re-do them if I take the class in the future. Regarding the GPA, a worst case scenario would be a D bringing it down from 3.85 to about 3.81.

The main problem with this class is that they grade relative to the rest of your classmates. If you perform average, you get a C. Right now, my grades are probably below average, so even a strong performance the rest of the way would only get me to the average. Even if I retake it in the future, there's really no guarantee that I'd do significantly better than I am now, although my early quiz bombings would not exist.

I would give consideration to taking the W on this one, particularly if it would be your first one and you are in significant danger of getting a C- or lower.

Update (if anyone cares) :

After approximately a miserable 1.5 months that left me with a 35%, I was able to pull off consecutive scores of 97+ on all of my quizzes, labs, and even got the highest score in the class on the final. I ended up finishing on the A/B borderline and await for the course scores to be posted.
