Hi I'm a dental student. Currently in dentistry, there is a push for mid-level provider.
I am just curious to know how NP and PA affect primary care and physicians in medicine.
How these two mid-level affected medicine in all aspects (time wise, lifestyle wise, money wise, etc)

Thanks!

God help dentistry if mid level providers start up. Be prepared for them to want more and more responsibility, more and more freedom, and then more and more pay.

But they get the same training as us but do it in less time so why shouldn't they?

Is there a midlevel that gets the same training as a dentist?
they don't. for them its only 2 yr. and they perform easy procedures under the supervision of a dentist.
just like PAs

do you guys have any other info? change in work hours, salary, job satisfaction, practice dynamic etc...
Thanks!

I was being sarcastic. Its insanely counter intuitive to assume that a group of people with lower qualifications for entry are capable of out performing a higher qualified group in less time... buy that is the argument they make anyways.

It's an argument midlevels (particularly PAs) like to make--"We get all the same training as physicians, and we do it in less time."

In a very similar way that my childhood swimming lessons technically gave me the same training as michael Phelps.... sorry this argument just burns me :banghead:
