I use to work out a lot - 7 years ago! Mainly lifted weights because I played four sports year-round in high school but hated to run, so just squeezed that in sparingly as I usually got enough cardio during practice.

A friend of mine got a weight set and a bench with a squat rack a few weeks ago and I had to help him put it together because he is not so mechanically inclined. Well out of curiosity I decided to put all the weight on (300 lbs total) and was still able to do two reps. I was quite surprised seeing as how it has been so long. So while I am not in as good a shape as I use to be, Im still in descent shape concidering the circumstances.

I'm a total couch potato. A few years ago I did get motivated enough to run a marathon (26.2 miles) but now I'm back on the couch. I feel guilty about not running anymore but I live near Phoenix and saying it is hellishly hot here is an understatement. It is hard to get motivated when it is already 90 when you wake up in the morning.

I did my marathon 2 1/2 years ago and then quit running. And I know what you mean about the heat - Dallas - who wants to run when you don't even want to go outside.

I have discovered that a treadmill is better than nothing. But then every excuse in the world seems to get in the way and I don't go to the gym like I should. So, while I could be in better shape, I could be in worse shape, too. 🙁

Personally, my favorite sport is paintball, but it gets expensive to buy paintballs from the local fields. My parents don't want me playing in the backyard with it because I let THEM try it out once, and THEY hit the neighbor's window. It didn't break but the neighbor told us that they let their cat run around outside so they don't want it to get shot.

And its kinda illegal for me to go use it anywhere else.

I used to exercise 2 hours a day. The past 2 years i've been so stressed out and busy I rarely get to exercise. This summer my goal was to lose the 20 lbs i've gained but my new excuse is, my gym is too far and gas is expensive. It's hard enough finding clothes that fit when you're a 5'11" woman, and I have a closet full of them that are too small! (and i'm too broke to buy more, i swear i've been wearing the same 2 outfits for the past year)

I wish I could bike to the gym! I keep thinking about that. I want to buy a bike just to cruise around in, but my finances are tight. I tried garage sales but i can't find one that fits me, cause i'm so tall and my legs are ridiculously long (seems all I can find is kids bikes). And really the gym is FAR, if i biked it would take me like 5 hours haha. I really want to start swimming laps every morning, I LOVE swimming. I have what they call "football knee" so i'm not suppose to run, especially on pavement. 🙁

Omg,I totally understand.Over the course of past 3 yrs I've gained allmost 40 pounds.😱 Besides that I am kinda tallish (5'9) and basically broke all the time. Sooo going and buying clothes a lot isn't an option and even if it is, nothing fits me.What I did is I was basically saving for gym membership since January ( was new yr resolution) and finally was able to afford going there in April.Which is probably not an option for you due to the gas prices.
P.S It worked, I am fitting into stuff that I wore 3 yrs ago...

hmm...physically fit. I used to run 3.3 miles everyday for about 3 weeks...to lose some weight before the program starts. Lost 10 lbs, that was 3 weeks ago...tried running today and I COULDN'T DO IT!!!!😡 oh well, just wanted to lose some more weight because I know that when the program starts...I'm going to be gaining weight like CRAZY!!!

I am absolutely HORRIBLE at any cardio exercise, so thankfully my metabolism makes up for that, but still.... I want to be healthy NOW so I'm healthy when I'm older...

I aspire to complete the marshmallow man challenge if one suddenly became available.

LOL.

In all seriousness, though, I think I'm doing ok. I've gained 10 lbs in three years. (Now 5'9" and 165) I'm thinking I'll have a pretty light schedule this fall and will be starting to train again this weekend once I finally make it to Omaha, so my goal is by Christmas be around 150.

My dream is to compete in the Kona Ironman, although the chances of that happening are close to zero...I am not a great swimmer and since Kona is the world championships, you must qualify....or so I hear.

I am totally out of shape, but that's why I am applying to pharmacy schools. With the disproportionate female:male ratio, the ladies won't have much choices. :meanie:

LMAO!!!! HA HA HA,

CHEERS TO YOU MAN, CHEERS TO YOU for that awesome point. I hope u dont mind but im gonna use that in my convos in the future.

I used to be a personal trainer back in my Bally's total fitness days in southern california! lol . I consider Going to the gym as part of my lifestyle. Just like studying chemistry, I feel guilty if I go a day without it . : ( ...... I used to be into the BIG weight lifting scene before. I even considered joining a couple contests. But now i just work out to maintain my awesome lean 10 % body fat physique, lol 😀. Yes Im cocky.

the funny thing is , lifting weights , is what attracted me for my quest in pharmacy, interestingly enough!. I was used to reading and memorizing vitamins, and looking up nutritional values for the greater benefit of my workout regimen. I was always curious about how my body was interacting with certain foods and supplements in order to get bigger and better muscular benefits, and it was fun.

Right now I bench 225lbs, on the flat bench on a regular basis, but i warm up ofcourse. I max out at about 300 lbs. I hack squat 250's - 300. I do about 4-5 sets of abs and obliques every other day, and Im addicted to skull crushers, and anyting related to tricep workouts. etc. I like to run up and down stairs alot as well . I dont believe In treadmills, they do nothing for you. And any thing free weights is definitely better than the "machines". Machines should be utilized as a post muscle workout before moving to the next muscle to build blood circulation around the muscle being targeted. And to stimulate growth after a free weight workout. You get a good "PUMP" when you do that.

I believe anyone who's a hopeful pharmacist should do some form of physical fitness to stay healthy. AFTER all doctors are the role models of the "HEALTH" industry.

But yea thats a slice of my take on physical fitness. lol . im not in the mood in writing a book right now lol,.

Why would you want to look like a stick? 5'9" and 165 is already pretty skinny. The ideal weight for that height is probably more like 185-190.

Dude, 185-190 for a person who is 5'9 is bit big, don't you think?
