How proud should I be of getting in?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've gotten some negative comments on my MDApps profile for applying DO as well as MD... but here is my thought process...

I want to be a physician. I live in a country where there are two pathways to become a physician. While there are some obvious differences between the two, neither limits what I can do. I should go to a school where I fit the most with the students and the faculty, where I will be the happiest. When I get that first acceptance, I will be excited, regardless of which type of program it comes from. I will get to be a physician. Life goal, en route to complete. 😍

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Once I get the first acceptance, I'll then worry about getting into my #1 choice.

How proud should I be of getting accepted into LECOM and WVSOM? Does anyone know how many students apply and how many are accepted to each one?

A lot of my pre-MD friends seem to think that anyone could get into a DO school. I don't know about them, but I worked my butt off everyday over the past 3.5 years to get accepted.

The DO schools respected my diligence, the MD schools just waitlisted me because of my 3.7 GPA and 25P even though I have things on my app that few other applicants have (I'm the director of an emergency management agency and have over 5,000 of experience working in a hospital). Thus, I think I'd rather be a DO any day.

The BEST thing about getting into medical school is getting away from pre-meds. They are the most knowledgable, justworthy, genuine advisors the medical community has, or will, see!

Oh how I miss their constant misdirected, uninformed, second - third hand knowledge of the inner workings of medicine.

Haha...once you get into medical school (MD/DO) no one gives a ****. We're all too busy learning to be physicians. Congrats!

Well stated. Sounds like you'll make a fine physician no matter what degree you pursue.
