How soon should I take the DAT?

I have just recently decided to go pre-dent and I am still looking at about a year or so of work before I start applying to dental schools and I was just wondering when you all thought would be the best time to take the DAT. I am taking biology and orgo this semester and finishing up both with bioII and orgoII in the spring and I hope that will give me enough experience to study for the DAT next summer and take it towards the beginning of fall. The only problem I have is that I won't have hardly enough hours to apply for my in state school by that time and I really want to take the DAT while the bio and orgo is still fresh in my mind. What you you guys/gals think?

Just take the DAT as soon as you finish the classes that are covered on the DAT...bio, gchem, and ochem. It doesn't matter if you apply a year later.

Yeah, your DAT scores are valid for 3 years. So take it after you finish Bio,Chem, and OChem.

I wouldnt bother applying to dental schools with the min 90 credits required anyway. I dont know if thats what you meant you were trying to do.

I would make sure you will have finished 120 credits by the time you will matriculate in, unless you have like 3.7+ GPA.

Yeah I was talking about the minimum 90 hours. I've only got about 30 or so hours right now and its going to take me a while to get to 90 much less 120. Its going to take me about another year after this one to get 90. I guess I'm gonna have to get used to being in school for a while Hopefully it wont take me over 3 years after taking the DAT next year to meet the minimum requirements and start applying.
