How stressful do you guys find rads?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
To answer this question, wouldn't you have to ask people who have been both anesthiologists and radiologists? Seems like a pretty small subset.

Generally speaking, I don't find rads particularly stressful. I also love what I do, so that makes things easier. Radiology call is probably more consistently stressful than almost any other specialty. Until you get comfortable with call, it can be extraordinarily stressful.

Gas is like being a cop. Countless hours of boredom, donuts and paperwork interrupted by moments of sheer terror every couple of months.

Diagnostic rads is more of a constant grind, if you count a long list of studies in the 'unread' box as 'stress', yes then it can be stressful (the only moments of sheer terror we have to offer are idiosyncratic contrast reactions, but thankfully those are few and far in between and you can go years without one).

I'd say it's considerably more stressful than clinicians think it is.

But overall less stressful than radiology residents think it is.
